The Concept Law Group is proud to have overcome a major challenge asserted against its client’s patent, U.S. Patent No. 7,806,360. The patent owner, David Chadwick, sued Shaw Industries Group, Inc., a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc., which is the world’s largest carpet manufacturer, for infringement of his patent. Shaw responded by challenging the validity of Mr. Chadwick’s patent through the new Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceeding at the U.S. Patent Office. (IPR-00132, July 2014). After over a year of litigation, The Concept Law Group is thrilled to have succeeded in its effort to uphold the patent’s validity. Mr. Chadwick can now continue with his suit in Federal Court.
The victory was no easy task. Shaw was represented by Fish & Richardson, a firm with 352 attorneys, including 226 patent attorneys/agents, 74 of which hold PhDs.
